Long
before other races in the region had built cities,
the elves crossed Ocean Perennity with their beautiful
viirn ships. They founded colonies along the coast
of Kvyr Forest and Greenwood Enchants. According
to custom they planted their precious viirn trees
at the sites and tended them for growth. The trees
thrived in the soil of the Kvyr Forest, and the
elves named their town Viirnial – home of viirns.
Viirnial flourished and became the center of trade
for elves in this region.
When the orcish hordes first fell upon the Kvyr
settlements, the elves defended themselves well,
using the terrain to their advantage. In order to
force the elves out into the open the orcs torched
the forests. This tactic became so popular that
to this day only a fraction of the Kvyr Forest remains
and the region has since been renamed to Ashen Kvyr.
Viirnial was saved and the orcs scattered, with
the assistance of the Dar’Kolbur dwarves and the
elves of Greenwood Enchants.
There was however little to celebrate. Their land
was scorched, few viirn trees remained, and their
kin from Greenwood Enchants abandoned them for the
dream of finding a new forest further east on the
mainland. Ever since, the Kvyr elves have been reserved
towards other races in the region and have kept
mostly to themselves. Even contact with their kin,
the A’lure elves, has been sparse, and the cultural
differences between the two groups have steadily
increased over the centuries.
The Kvyr elves can be encountered in human cities
residing along the coast, amongst others Emerald
Bay and the kingdoms of Gotanvir and Narinhur. They
are drawn there to influence the seaway trade, but
usually tend to avoid getting involved in local
society and politics unless it affects their business.
They can also be found in the harbor west of Tildruin,
but they seldom visit the main city.
