The
Fryrvst is a quest, an ancient tradition,
offered to all gnome scholars that have reached
mature age. The purpose of the Fryrvst is
to acquire new knowledge that will add to
the splendor of the Grand Frimblir Library.
The Fryrvst can be rejected but never abandoned
and a failure is passed on to the next generation.
This map is my Fryrvst, a tribute to the legacy
of my ancestors. It is the fulfillment of
our oath: "Receive to learn, learn to give,
give to advance the gnome race."
I set out with a quill and a parchment, intent
to learn more about the world around us. I
have seen the breaking waves of Ocean Perennity
and the mountain peaks encompassing the dwarven
city of Borwin. I have tasted the exotic sea
snake fillets of Emerald Bay and the wonderful
halfling pastries on Mervin Hills. I have
conversed with elves at the border of A'lure
and I have beheld a fierce Ograkk orc tribe
from the north. The trolls of Sarmoor indeed
smell like sulfur and their bellies rumble
constantly (as stated in a gnome lullaby).
My travels lead me to Tildruin, on Druinbar
Hill. The last Tilkhurg Giant lies beneath
its streets! The gnome colony is small in
comparison to other races, but I am sure more
will arrive when they realize the potential.
I have spent five years learning new languages
and collecting works of art and literature.
This map is the result of my work and my Fryrvst
is complete.
Throughout my travels I have seen so much,
but nothing compares to Frimblir.

Cartographer and Scholar
