A
character's principal activity in life is
referred to as her Path. A path is made up
of three stages: Class, Profession and Specialization.
Each stage is taught by a guild and is an
active choice that will reflect character
development. The player selects a class at
character creation. When a character has mastered
her class she is ready to select a profession
that corresponds with her path.
The last stage in a character's path is specialization.
Specializations are offered by esoteric societies,
gatherings and lodges. These guilds are scattered
across the world and are often remotely located.
They typically require applicants to prove
themselves worthy by completing a quest. Specializations
will stimulate exploration and offer players
unique ways to individualize their characters.
Levels
Each member within a guild receives a title
that reflects their current level. There are
a fixed number of titles that can be attained
within a guild. A character gains new levels
by developing relevant skills. Skills are
developed primarily through use.
Common skills
A character can combine common skills and
path skills to develop other trades. Common
skills can be discovered and trained through
quests and schools spread around the world.
There are a variety of common skills available,
such as crafting, languages, herbalism, gardening,
mining, alchemy, heraldry and songs.
