The trollish society is divided into tribes that share dialect, customs and history. Each tribe is strongly bound to its territory and the trolls seldom venture beyond its limits. Since they do not often travel far outside their borders, communication between the tribes and other races is sparse. Age and spiritual affinity is highly respected among the trolls, and the tribes are commonly led by elders and shamans. It as usually they who handle external affairs as well. Contribution to the tribe is highly valued, and the hunters generally enjoy higher status than the gatherers. The Arwondel trolls lack much of their spiritual heritage, and often follow physically strong leaders instead.
